Early 90's Kitchen Gets A New Look

The Project: Kitchen Remodel / Renovation

These homeowners were tired of entertaining guests in a kitchen and eating area they felt looked dated and worn. They wanted to update their kitchen while introducing some design elements that would be in keeping with the feel of their 1940’s character home. For the most part this was a complete renovation, but in order to stick to the budget the existing cabinets were refinished and reconfigured. This created a much more functional space and drastically changed the overall appearance of this kitchen. This was an amazing transformation and the homeowners are absolutely thrilled with their new kitchen and how seamlessly it ties into the rest of their house!

This project began as a fairly typical early 90’s kitchen in drastic need of updating. Some of the main features included: honey oak raised panel cupboards, arborite countertops, linoleum floor, floral patterned wallpaper, brass track lighting over the island and a custom light box that spanned the width of the ceiling to conceal a support beam.

Spacious & welcoming! Several elements played into completely changing the overall feel of this kitchen. Reconfiguring the cabinets and refinishing them in a soft white really opened up this space. A light, airy shade of blue for the walls and updated lighting significantly brightened up this room. It went from being a drab, closed-in kitchen to being bright, spacious and most important…welcoming!
